I’d jack that jack. What is the worst that could happen? Tampering with evidence?

Lmao. Let me tell you something, my boy just bought the 2016 Accord Wheels to put on his 2014 and the first thing I told him was to get a bunch of wheel locks and he did. They are stealing those wheels left and right.

Wheel locks will just make it take a little longer. I used to work with a guy who had a different lock on each lug and still got his stuff stolen.

But, you're right in that locks are better than nothing. Probably best thing to do is get some really oddball lugs like Torx or something.

Pfft. Not like the police would bother dusting it for prints anyway. More likely they’d (eventually) show up, say “Yep, someone stole your wheels. This has been happening a lot lately.”, hand you some paperwork, tell you to call your insurance company, then proceed to the nearest donut shop.

EDIT: I shouldn’t be so hard on the police. I’m sure they’ve got more than enough crap to deal with.

Meanwhile they pull over a black guy in a civic (for no front license plate) and find a dime worth of weed. Guy goes to jail for 4 months.

This is why when it came to “aftermarket” wheels I just bought the cop steelies. Car looks bad to the bone, wheels were dirt cheap and no one wants them!

Took me just a shade too long to figure out what I was actually looking at. I thought maybe someone was stupid enough to try to rotate all their wheels at once or something. Once I scrolled down to see “Union City, NJ” then, natch, I got it immediately.

If you break down on the freeway and leave the car unattended it’ll be stripped clean by the time you get back. Wheels, stereo, battery, all of it, and they’ll take the jack with them when they leave.

Locks can definitely be broken but that extra time might not be worth it for some thief who can move on to the next Honda to ransack.

Resources like that in make believe land (crime shows like CSI) cost money in the real world. Not everyone’s prints are on file, man power is EXPENSIVE as is testing, and the money to pay for it all comes from the local jurisdictions that said said law enforcement agency covers. In most cases it’s from property taxes. The logistics would be staggering and property taxes would be a crap load more than they are now.

Many things in everyday life are within the realm of local government and people on the whole do not realize/pay attention to that fact.

Where would ANYONE get 4 months? Maybe Las Vegas due to the strict laws there.

As per NYS Penal Law:

A person is guilty of unlawful possession of marihuana when he knowingly and unlawfully possesses marihuana. Unlawful possession of marihuana is a violation punishable only by a fine of not more than one hundred dollars. However, where the defendant has previously been convicted of an offense defined in this article or article 220 of this chapter, committed within the three years immediately preceding such violation, it shall be punishable (a) only by a fine of not more than two hundred dollars, if the defendant was previously convicted of one such offense committed during such period, and (b) by a fine of not more than two hundred fifty dollars or a term of imprisonment not in excess of fifteen days or both, if the defendant was previously convicted of two such offenses committed during such period.

If you know of any specific cases where someone did a 4 month bit for a dime bag, please enlighten me. I’m curious where that would be.

You’d be surprised, they steel OEM wheels far more than aftermarket brands, for the simple fact that OEM wheels are impossible to find after they’ve been “walked”cause of how common they are.

Point and case: my uncle had the wheels off his venza stolen while it was in his driveway. These were them:

It was just a comment on the ridiculousness of the treatment of non-violent offenders. Non-violent offenders being treated like a big threat to society. I cannot cite any specific cases or examples.

Even with the law you quoted, 15 days on your 3rd possession charge in 3 years is WAY too harsh for someone that just smokes marijuana. It’s not everybody’s cup of tea but neither is Alcohol and that is perfectly legal to purchase and consume.

We are getting a little off track but the war on marijuana is archaic. It really does help some of the population in a way that would be almost impossible with the current federally approved pills.
